Sathvik Krishnamurthy, President and CEO

Sathvik Krishnamurthy was appointed President and CEO of Voltage Security in March 2003 and brings over 17 years of computer networking, messaging and security software experience to the company.

Prior to joining Voltage, Sathvik spent four years as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at ValiCert, a leading provider of secure file transfer and authentication software. While at ValiCert, Sathvik created and implemented the company’s global strategic marketing and partnership initiatives, helping to drive revenues from zero to $24M and a successful IPO in July 2000.

Before ValiCert, Sathvik spent six years in various capacities at Worldtalk Corporation. As Vice President and General Manager of their security division, Sathvik led the company into the secure messaging marketplace which ultimately resulted in the company’s $200M acquisition by Tumbleweed.

Prior to Worldtalk, Sathvik held engineering positions at various data communications companies including Retix, TITN, and Touch Communications and is co-inventor of US patent number 6609196, “E-mail firewall with stored key encryption/decryption” which he conceived of while at Worldtalk.

Lisa A. Viso, Chief Financial Officer

Lisa A. Viso brings over 19 years of experience to Voltage Security, specializing in finance and accounting for technology companies. As CFO, Lisa is responsible for all company operations related to finance and accounting, human resources, and legal matters.

Prior to joining Voltage, Lisa directed the transition of the Handspring accounting and finance functions to Palm, Inc. As corporate controller of Handspring, Lisa established Handspring's accounting department and developed and directed its treasury and risk management functions, overseeing revenues from zero to over $370M at its peak. Prior to Handspring, Lisa was the controller for McAfee.com and held various finance roles at Network Associates and ALZA Corporation.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce in Accounting from Santa Clara University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Terence Spies, Chief Technology Officer

Terence Spies has over 14 years of security and systems software development experience, working with leading companies such as Microsoft, Asta Networks and others. Terence now serves as Chief Technology Officer, overseeing the expansion of Voltage IBE technology into new application areas such as mobility, data storage and other areas where application data security is required.

Prior to joining Voltage, Terence worked at Asta Networks as Director of Development and VP of Engineering. Before Asta, Terence was with Microsoft for almost 9 years where he started the public key cryptography group and led the development of Microsoft Crypto API. While at Microsoft, Terence also designed the SSL server and client side implementations for Microsoft Internet Explorer, participated in the PCT/TLS protocol design, led the development team for the Microsoft Certificate Server and led the integration of the certificate server and active directory.

Terence graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Logic and Computation from Carnegie Mellon University.

John Weald, Vice President, Engineering

John Weald brings to Voltage 30 years of software engineering experience, the last 20 years in Silicon Valley. Prior to Voltage, John was Senior VP of Engineering and CTO at Sylantro Systems. Sylantro Systems is the leading provider of SIP application servers, and is currently deployed at over 70 carriers worldwide. John joined Sylantro Systems in 1998 as employee number five, and assembled and led the engineering team to deliver Sylantro's carrier-grade solution.

Prior to Sylantro, John was Vice President of Engineering at Worldtalk Corporation, which was later acquired by Tumbleweed. At Worldtalk, John was part of the founding team that developed the first email firewall and mail products, which were subsequently successfully deployed in many Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to Worldtalk, John held engineering and management positions at Touch Communications, a leading provider of networking protocol software, Austec, Inc., Bell Labs., AGS Computers, Inc., and ITT in London England.

John holds a B.S. degree in Data Processing from Loughborough University in England.

Tammy Schuring, Vice President, North America Sales

Tammy has over 15 years of experience in leading enterprise software sales teams. At Voltage, Tammy is responsible for enterprise sales and channel in North America. Prior to joining Voltage, Tammy was Vice President of Sales at Wakesoft (service-oriented architecture for J2EE). Prior to Wakesoft, she was the Senior Director of Western Sales for Versata. She has consistently led top-producing teams and is focused on working with customers to achieve a total solution.

Tammy has a degree in Mathematics and Economics from UC, Santa Barbara.

Wasim Ahmad, Vice President, Marketing

Wasim Ahmad brings to Voltage over 17 years of experience in enterprise software, application development and business intelligence, working with Global 2000 customers. Most recently, Wasim was Vice President of Strategy and Marketing at CA. Wasim was responsible at CA for defining and executing business strategy, focusing on portfolio strategy, mergers and acquisitions, as well as associated sales, marketing and branding strategies.

Prior to CA, Wasim was with Sterling Software serving as a Business Unit Director, where he focused on applications development products for Distributed, Mainframe, Microsoft and J2EE platforms. Before Sterling, Wasim was with Synon, a start up in the applications development space, in various roles including product management and European marketing.

Wasim holds a B.Sc. degree in Physics from the University of Sussex, England.

Dan Boneh, Co-founder

Dr. Dan Boneh is a leading authority in the fields of cryptography and computer science. As a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, Dr. Boneh leads the applied cryptography group. Dr. Boneh is co-inventor of the Identity-Based Encryption from the Weil Pairing, along with Dr. Matt Franklin of the University of California at Davis.

Dr. Boneh works on various topics in applied cryptography and computer security. His focus is on building security mechanisms that are easy to use and deploy. Along with his students, he developed new mechanisms for web security, file system security, and copyright protection. Dr. Boneh contributed to the security and performance of the RSA cryptosystem, developed new privacy mechanisms, and contributed to the study of cryptographic watermarking.

The author of over 60 technical publications, Dr. Boneh holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and has received numerous awards, including the Packard Award, the Alfred P. Sloan Award, the Terman Award and several NSF grants.

Guido Appenzeller, Co-founder

Guido Appenzeller co-founded what is now Voltage Security while attending Stanford University in 2002. Guido has over a decade of computer science, security, networking and e-commerce experience and has held numerous academic and entrepreneurial positions and is a MIT TR100 award winner for 2004. Guido is also a certified information privacy professional (CIPP).

Guido was previously an Associate at Kappa IT Ventures, a European Technology Investor, worked for McKinsey and Company in their German office and was CTO and Vice President of the Business Association of Stanford Engineering Students (BASES).

Guido received a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and his undergraduate degree in Physics magna cum laude from the University of Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe, Germany.

Matt Pauker, Co-founder

Matt Pauker co-founded Voltage Security in 2002 out of a Stanford University dorm room. Winner of both the Stanford BASES Entrepreneur's Challenge and the Stanford Global Entrepreneur's Challenge, Matt received his B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford that same year.

Since Voltage's inception, Matt has been responsible for driving its technical vision and architecture. He currently manages the Voltage SecureData product line and Voltage's key management platform, used by the world's largest enterprises and software companies to secure their most sensitive data.

Matt has been named by BusinessWeek as one of the its top 25 young entrepreneurs and has been featured in Time Magazine, InformationWeek, and Red Herring.

Rishi Kacker, Co-founder

Rishi Kacker co-founded what is now Voltage Security while attending Stanford University in 2002. Since Voltage's inception, Rishi has been responsible for driving its technical vision and architecture. In 2002, Rishi graduated from Stanford with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Rishi also studied economics and finance while working towards a Masters in Management Science and Engineering.

While at Stanford, Rishi helped build the Scribe E-mail System, a research project designed to deploy a complete secure email solution. Also at Stanford, Rishi was involved in a strategic planning venture, teaching of computer science, and in the Business Association of Stanford Engineering Students (BASES).
